Ghana's industrial sector, particularly in aluminum smelting and manganese processing, relies heavily on the availability of high-quality calcined petroleum coke. Given the tropical climate and high humidity of the region, the storage and transportation of these carbon materials require specialized handling to prevent degradation and moisture absorption.
Currently, the market is characterized by a high dependence on imported refined carbon. The local demand for calcined coke is driven by the need for high-density electrodes and refractory materials that can withstand the extreme temperatures found in Ghana's mineral processing plants.
Despite the growth in mining, the local capacity for complex petroleum coking is limited, creating a strategic gap that requires the integration of global supply chains to ensure the continuous operation of energy-intensive smelting facilities.
