However, the local market faces challenges due to the extreme climatic variations of the subcontinent, which impact the storage and moisture control of raw carbon materials. This has led to a strategic shift toward importing specialized grades of graphite petroleum coke to maintain consistent production cycles in heavy manufacturing.
Economically, the "Make in India" initiative is driving the modernization of petroleum coking facilities, moving away from primitive processing toward automated, energy-efficient calcination plants that reduce the carbon footprint of the final graphite product.
